I am that mom… the crafty one! I’m the mom that rummages through the dollar spot at Target for bits and bobs to make pretty things. Ya know… the one that spends $20 on crafting a handmade card as opposed to buying a $5 Hallmark card. So, I’ve seen the trendy chalkboard crafts and have been a little hesitant to attempt creating any chalk projects. Confession time! Chalk is my kryptonite. Chalk is like… well it’s like nails on a chalkboard! It just makes my skin crawl.

Relaxing with Spiced Tea

This post contains affiliate links. For more information see full disclaimer at the end of this post.

Tea is one of my favorite drinks! I am a southern gal so sweet tea is a staple in our house. We practically drink a gallon of tea every single day! It’s a necessity during the warm summer months for sure! In the last year I have ventured out and tried new varieties of teas. I have tried flavored teas. Who knew there were so many flavored teas available? I have tried therapeutic teas; some that calm, some that relieve stress, and even some that help with sleep. I am particularly a fan of cold teas, but have more recently been enjoying hot teas. I find that spiced teas are a great way to relax after a stressful day.

Personalized Water Bottles

This post contains affiliate links. For more information see full disclaimer at the end of this post.

Water bottles are an essential item for both of my kids. From sports to recess, staying hydrated is a must! It seems to be a struggle for my two “littles” to keep up with their water bottles. They have already lost or broken a few bottles each this year. I decided to try and solve at least one of those problems by personalizing their water bottles. This will not only help identify each bottle, but I hope that if the bottles are lost, there is a better chance of them being returned.

iPhone 5 Case Review

I am probably one of the last people in “techie world” that still owns a generation 5 iPhone. hanging my head in shame It’s sad, but it’s true. I was holding off on upgrading until my contract expired, and then kept putting off upgrading because of the rumors of an even newer iPhone. *sigh* It’s a vicious cycle. The struggle is real!

While I was on one of my Amazon shopping sprees, imagine my surprise when I came across a phone case that still exists that will fit my old phone. It’s a sturdy belt clip and case, plus it’s pink! What’s not to love?? You know what comes next. That’s right… I quickly ordered it.

The iPhone 5S Belt Clip and Case by Stalion arrived quickly thanks to FREE two day shipping via Amazon Prime. I had the pink beauty in my hot little hands in record time.

What I like: Both the belt clip and case have kickstands allowing the phone to be propped up for easy hands free viewing. The kickstand on the phone case is a little difficult to open, but it does lock into and stay in place, and it seems sturdy. The kick stand on the belt clip can be turned 180 degrees, allowing you several options for propping to view. Inside the belt clip is a nice piece of black velvet material that keeps your screen safely tucked inside. The camera and volume control buttons are easy to access with several cutouts in the case.

What I don’t like: I will admit that I was a little surprised to find that the case was made of a hard plastic, since the description suggests that the case has a “rubberized texture” which provides a non slip grip. The case does have a bumpy texture, but it is most certainly not a non slip case. Instead the plastic is very slick and slippery. While the texture of the case was not a deal breaker for me, I am not 100% satisfied with the case. The top and bottom ends of the phone case are exposed, which makes it easy to reach the features on the top and bottom of the phone, but leaves me a little worried about full protection when the phone is not in the case. I have also found that when the phone is in the clip with the screen facing out, the phone is very vulnerable to damage and the charger port is impossible to access unless placed in the clip upside down, making it awkward to handle.

Keeping My Kids In Mind

I am a big fan of Kim Komando. She is the genius behind all things tech related: websites, e-mail, software, gadgets, you name it – she has covered it. In a newsletter I read a few years ago, Kim wrote about a free site that peaked my interest. Our family of movie fans enjoy streaming things on Netflix. Yes, I turned into THAT mom. The one that swore I would never let a TV babysit my kids.
